CCF Rules Of Conduct

  1. All operations will comply with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Safety Code and all Regulatory requirements.
  2. Only CCF Members in good standing, who have a current AMA Membership and who have successfully completed the Check Flight Demonstration may fly unsupervised (Solo Qualified).
  3. CCF Members who have not yet completed the Check Flight Demonstration may fly provided a member who is Solo Qualified is present and willing to act as a safety observer. The role of the safety observer is to ensure that flights are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with CCF rules. The safety observer may terminate the flight at any time.
  4. Only members appointed by the CCF Board of Directors are authorized to conduct the Check Flight Demonstration. The Check Flight will be administered in accordance with the published Flight Check Demonstration Form.
  5. Current AMA Members may fly as guests on three occasions provided all the following conditions are met:
    a. AMA Membership is verified (Current AMA Card).
    b. Release Form is completed, signed, and witnessed. The completed form must be placed in the procession of a CCF member who will ensure that it is filed with the club secretary.
    c. A Solo Qualified CCF Member is present and willing to act as a safety observer. The role of the safety observer is to ensure that flights are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with CCF rules. The safety observer may terminate the flight at any time.
  6. Guests/Spectators are permitted, but they must complete the release form to enter the flying area beyond the safety fence. The completed form must be placed in the procession of a CCF member who will ensure that it is filed with the club secretary.
  7. Non-CCF Members, or CCF Members not yet Solo Qualified shall never be left unattended at the site. If the member is to leave the site and guests/spectators refuse to depart, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department shall be notified immediately.
  8. Only foot traffic will be allowed on the landfill cap. All vehicles must park in the area designated.
  9. Disturbing the soil/vegetative cover, or addition/modification of structures requires approval of the CCF President.
  10. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the landfill cap past the safety fence at carport/storage building.
  11. People are advised to remain a minimum of 15 feet from gas vents on the landfill cap.
  12. Current operating hours for the Doctors Inlet Landfill are Thursday through Saturday, 7:30AM until 5:00PM. The two gates on Sleepy Hollow Road will be open during these times. Both gates MUST remain locked during all Doctors Inlet Landfill non-operating hours.
  13. Disposal of any waste at the landfill is prohibited except during landfill operating hours. The area is under 24-hour video surveillance.
  14. All accidents/incidents resulting in personal injury or damage to any part of the flying area, equipment, or structure, must be reported to the club president immediately.
  15. Subject to the limitations listed in this document, operation of any type of model aircraft, remote control ground vehicle or model rocket is permitted.
  16. Normal flying hours for electric powered are from daylight until 30 minutes after sunset.
    a. Operations outside of these hours may be approved by the CCF President or Vice-President.
  17. Operation (ground or flight) of gas/glow powered aircraft is restricted to from 9:00AM to sunset, no exceptions.
  18. Turbine powered aircraft are prohibited.
  19. Use of fireworks, flares or any type of explosive device is prohibited.
  20. Ground Safety Procedures
    a. To prevent “Fail Safe” related accidents, the transmitter must be powered on prior to powering the aircraft, and it must remain on until after the aircraft power is removed.
    b. Unless the propeller has been removed, aircraft may not be powered in any area other than the designated arming tables or taxiways.
    c. For electric powered aircraft, “Throttle Cut” must be programmed and used to keep the motor de-armed until the aircraft is placed in the taxi area. (Applies to transmitters with this feature).
    d. Never carry a powered aircraft with the propeller aimed towards your body.
    e. Never simultaneously carry a powered (armed or unarmed) aircraft and its associated transmitter.
    f. For maintenance/warmup, aircraft motors may be started/armed in the turn-up area located in the northeast corner of the pit area. Operating aircraft must be restrained in this area. Aircraft may be taxied from the warmup area to the eastern taxiway.
    g. Gas/glow aircraft must be restrained while starting.
  21. No Fly Areas
    a. CCF flight line, pit area, club maintenance facilities, and parking area.
    b. Vicinity of waste transfer station.
    c. Clay County buildings located north of the waste transfer station.
    d. Flight over/beyond the western tree line is prohibited.
    e. Flying North of the line formed by the club fence and the readily identifiable “middle tree” on the western tree line is prohibited. The Yellow Boundary Pole should be positioned midway on this line but is occasionally moved by the mowers. This exclusion area provides a safe workspace for Clay County workers.
  22. Ground R/C
    a. Use of ground R/C vehicles shall be on a “not to interfere” basis with normal flight operations.
    b. Ground R/C vehicles may not be used on the runway or taxiways.
    c. Ground R/C vehicles may not be used in the area around the flightline, arming tables or worktables while flight operations are underway.
    d. Permanent tracks and/or obstacles may not be erected at the site. Temporary/portable obstacles may be erected as long as they are removed at the completion of use.
  23. Model Rockets
    a. Use of model rockets shall be on a “not to interfere” basis with normal flight operations.
    b. Use of model rockets shall adhere to the AMA Safety Code. Per the AMA:
    i. Rocket motors, up to a G-series size, may be used for propulsion, as long as they use solid propellants and remain attached to your model during the flight.
    ii. Launching a rocket or any other missile from a model aircraft is prohibited.
    iii. AMA members interested in model rocketry should abide by the National Model Rocketry (NAR) Safety Code.
    iv. Rockets may not be launched from the runway or taxiway.
    v. All launches will use a blast defector to prevent the motor’s exhaust from hitting the ground.
    vi. Only motors produced by a NAR certified manufacturer may be used (Examples include Estes, Quest and Aerotech). Homemade rocket motors are strictly forbidden.
    vii. Launches with winds from the South and/or East should use caution to avoid landing in our published “No Fly” areas.
  24. Failure to adhere to the above stated rules of conduct may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the CCF Bylaws.
