Spring Swap Meet
On April 25th we will have our annual spring swap meet. This will be a “no-host” event so bring your own table and anything RC related that you would like to sell. Guests are also welcome to participate provided they sign a site waiver form. Guests who wish to fly must also have an AMA card. During the swap meet, we will have hotdog cookout and landing accuracy competition. We are looking for a few volunteers to help with setup, cooking and guest greeting. Anyone who can help please notify rhallfl@gmail.com & bod@clayflyers.org.

Independence Day Cookout
On July 11th the CCF will be hosting an Independence Day cookout at the club. This will be a potluck event with the club providing meat. We will also have a few fun flying events. More details to follow.

Safety
Safety Reminder: All CCF members are responsible for safe aircraft handling and flying at our field. Additionally, we ask all members to report any un-safe events or safety concerns to the CCF Safety Officer, Rex Hall (rhallfl@gmail.com). If any member needs to address an immediate need for Safety Help to another member, we remind you to do so respectfully.
CCF Flying Tip: Moving CG back will increase the aircraft’s ability to achieve slower landing.

Membership
Clay County Flyers currently has sixty-one members.

Bloody Baron
On Saturday April 28th, we had our final Bloody Baron combat session of the 2025-2026 season. Competitors fly Flite Test Bloody Baron or Bloody Wonder aircraft with 20’ streamers attached.
The purpose is to cut each other’s streamer while preventing yours from being cut. These aircraft are foamboard construction, so they are inexpensive, easy to build, and easily repaired.

If you have not yet tried this event, please consider it because it will make you a better pilot and it is great fun. Our 2026-2027 season will kick off this fall so you have time to get your plane built. As always, a HUGE thank you to Andrew Alvarez for organizing and running this event.

Results from the 2025-2026 season are as follows:
1st Andrew Alvarez 2020pts
2nd Craig Rogers 1250pts
3rd Peter Craig 1183pts
4th Mark Nye 1060pts
5th Jim Brazeal 890pts
6th Matt Hansknecht 430pts

Free
Last month a partially completed balsa plane was donated to the club. The hand written note on the package indicated that it is a “Super Sport 40” but there were no plans, tail feathers or ailerons. This is a mid-wing plane so definitely not the popular Top Flight Sportster. The fuselage is 45” long and the wing has a 59” span and 13” chord. The fuselage is only partially completed and has some damage, but the wing is complete and well built. This is free to anyone interested.
